on my wish list
Look at What the Light Did Now documents the journey of Feist’s Grammy nominated album “The Reminder”. This poetic film pulls back the curtain to reveal intimate partnerships with the people Feist calls her ‘amplifiers’: The photographer who helped her hide within the frame, shadow puppeteers in hockey arenas, an artist who built a thread-radiating mural, the video director who conducted fireworks, the pianist who guided the recording of the album, and other musical and visual collaborators. The film follows Feist and her supporting cast through an impressionistic array of flickering scenery, echoing stadiums, puppet workshops, the red carpet, a crumbling French mansion, definitive concert performances and uncommonly candid interviews. Itself a part of the creative mosaic it portrays, Look At What The Light Did Now illuminates the synergy of collaboration, art as magnifying glass, and the power of trust.

get gone
How many times can it escalate
Till it elevates to a place I can't breathe?
And I must decide, if you must deride
That I'm much obliged to up and go
I'll idealize, then realize that it's no
Sacrifice, because the price is paid, and
There's nothing left to grieve
Fuckin go-
'cause I've done what I could for you, and I do know what's
Good for me and I'm not benefiting

Comics on Comics: Judd Apatow on Maria Bamford
by Deborah Vankin, Los Angeles Times
An occasional series in which top comics tell us who's making them laugh. This week:Judd Apatow on his comedy crush, Maria Bamford.
"I love Maria Bamford. She makes me laugh. I think she's hysterically funny. She performs all over the place [in LA]. Have you seen her? She's so funny — she's one of the few people that really makes you laugh hard, who's doing something so interesting and insane.
She does a lot of voices. She has a very high voice and she does a lot of characters and people in her life — with deep voices — and it's just a unique, bizarre act. I've seen a lot of comics and it takes a lot to make me laugh really hard. And she definitely makes me laugh super hard.
I don't live that close to UCB [Upright Citizens Brigade, where Bamford occasionally performs] or I'd go there all the time; I've performed there a few times. I wish I lived right next door and I'd just move in. It's fun. I did some stand-up at UCB when I was writing 'Funny People,' to just get in the head. You know … I'm gonna try to not sit in my room watching 'Mad Men' all day long."

It's weird when you are friends with someone and then you're not.
For no reason.
Like, best friends.
Except that you get a girlfriend that controls your life, and then you drop me like a hot potato.
I guess that's a reason.

Leonard Loves Doug Loves Movies
Doug Benson is a very funny guy. You may have seen him on TV or at a local comedy club; he tours all the time. Or you may be familiar with his stoner documentary Super-High Me. But I’ve gotten to know Doug because he hosts a podcast called Doug Loves Movies (formerly known as I Love Movies) that’s recorded in front of a live audience at L.A.’s comedy hotspot, Upright Citizens Brigade Theater. The heart of every show is a competition he calls—no kidding—The Leonard Maltin Game.
Doug is a dyed-in-the-wool movie buff, as smart as he is funny, and every week he gathers fellow standup comics and actors to play the game, in which he serves as quizmaster. The object is to guess the name of a movie based on—
—the cast list in my book, Leonard Maltin’s Movie Guide—reading from the bottom up—and a few isolated phrases from my review. Contestants bid against each other on how many (or few) names it will take for them to identify the film. Guests have included Sarah Silverman, Patton Oswalt, Jon Hamm, Kevin Pollak, Bob Odenkirk, Tom Arnold, Tom Lennon, and Weird Al Yankovic, to name a few.

August 31st, get here.
Anchorman is coming to BluRay with 50 more minutes of Sex Panther
Even though fans were super bummed when plans for a proposed "Anchorman 2" were scuttled earlier this year, if you think about it, it would've actually been the third movie. There's "Anchorman: The Legend Of Ron Burgundy," the film we all know and love and quote by heart, and there's "Wake Up Ron Burgundy" a sort-of feature cobbled together from all the outtakes and deleted scenes while shooting the original. And while we may not get another feature, the newest BluRay is giving enough new footage that we're sure somebody out there on the interwebs is gonna try and do something with it.
Paramount is releasing "Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy The Unrated “Rich Mahogany” Edition" to BluRay, and instead of just double dipping in a new format, they've added 50 minutes of new outtakes, deleted and extended scenes, raw footage, cast auditions and more. In short, it's 50 more minutes of the cast riffing, fucking up and generally being hilarious and really, it's a pretty decent reason to upgrade (at least we hope).
The BluRay will hit stores on August 31st, and there will be a Best Buy exclusive with trading cards and a book. Full set details after the jump (new features in bold). [Collider]

Will? I certainly would.
Will Arnett came to 'Arrested Development's' rescue
While you may know Will Arnett from playing versions of the “the stunted, spoiled, filthy-rich dumb-ass," as GQ put it, throughout his career, the actor told the magazine in their September issue that he's ready to branch out.
In Fox's new sitcom "Running Wilde," he'll play Steve Wilde, the descendant of an oil tycoon who isn't above holding a competition with his neighbor to see who can purchase the smallest and most expensive Arabian horse. It may sound like the same obnoxious, wealthy character, but Wilde is different, Arnett pointed out: He's also a romantic who's bent on trying to regain the affection of a former sweetheart (played by Keri Russell).
“I'm moving out of my comfort zone," Arnett told GQ, "and right into my wheelhouse."
“Running Wilde” pairs Arnett up once again with “Arrested Development” creator Mitchell Hurwitz, who told GQ that Arnett really isn’t as off-putting as the characters he portrays.
“Like many comic performers who get known for the less-than-savory personas they depict, Will is really the antithesis of the self-involved, emotionally stunted clown who he so easily slips in and out of,” Hurwitz said. “Will is fascinated by entitlement—which is also something of a theme for me—and he's able to play characters that suffer from the dead end of that life condition because he understands both what's ridiculous about that lifestyle, and how insidious it can actually be.”
This ability ended up being a lifesaver for Hurwitz when he was struggling to find the right actor for “Development’s” Gob Bluth. “This is a guy who thinks this show is about him. If he was real and was also in this show he'd ask why we need Jason Bateman's kid in it. Or Jason Bateman himself,” Hurwitz explained of the character. “[E]veryone who came in just played it so ‘character-y.’”
It got to the point where a Fox exec was telling Hurwitz that his "Arrested Development" pilot was on its deathbed, but then, casting delivered the gift of Arnett. “And of course, Will came in and completely nailed it. I mean, after weeks of it not working as we'd hoped and suddenly it's so beyond what we'd hoped for.
“I'm benefiting from it still,” Hurwitz added, “as both a producer and as his friend.”
