The Acorn

Shots Ring Out showed me this video.
I am going to have to agree with everything they say about it.
Nice work Chris Mills.

Lick it up Baby. Lick. It. Up.

i love that i am getting paid to get a clip from the greatest movie in the history of time.

thank you mary anne for assigning me with this. i owe you one.

me likey joseph gordon-levitt

GQ magazine has a ridiculously hot photo spread with my boyfriend Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

His co-star for some dumb reason is Claudia Schiffer, who, if my calculations are correct, is in her early hundreds. Seriously, she's been modeling since I was in like, fourth grade.

Simon Pegg is a really cool dude

i kind of already knew this, but this article in the L.A. Times was icing.

Bruno punk'd Ben Affleck

i missed this on Friday and I love it. After all the Borat shenanigans i really didn't think he'd be able to pull it off again.
But guess what! People are stupid.

Sacha Baron Cohen is F**king with Ben Affleck

Sacha Baron Cohen’s alter ego Bruno has recently been causing trouble in Kansas, shooting the follow-up to Borat, titled Brüno: Delicious Journeys Through America for the Purpose of Making Heterosexual Males Visibly Uncomfortable in the Presence of a Gay Foreigner in a Mesh T-Shirt (now try to say that five times fast). FilmDrunk reported earlier this week that security was put on red alert when “a German film crew member” started “stripping down to tight shorts and dancing in the lobby of Wichita Airport” (see video of this at the bottom of the post). A church in Kansas also reported that a strange European camera crew showed up to their Easter play with the on air personality in chains.

The Ting Tings

maybe i'm behind on this, like "hey guys, have you heard of this youtube thing?" but i am falling in love with this band The Ting Tings.
sadly i missed them in echo park a couple weeks ago.
not sure what is up with my obsession with bands that consist of a dude a lady and/or bands from the UK, but here's another for the list.
Katie White (The Ting Tings) semi reminds me of Sharin Foo (The Raveonettes).
I am such a racist thinking all hot blondes look alike.
Their Wiki page has some good information and linkage.

human giant

i feel like i have 15 posts called "human giant", but i don't care.
i love it.
2/3 of the members of my favorite current sketch show made a surprise appearance at UCB last night and showed a couple videos from season 2.

the above isn't one of the videos they showed, but watch it anyway.
i couldn't find it online yet, but it's called "piñata" and it is a damn good time.

family feud on primetime? really?

um, does someone at NBC like me?

did they just read my FF post from yesterday?

did they know that I tivo'd the Thanksgiving Day Family Feud marathon and I watched "fast money" over and over again for maybe 2 hours straight? did i just say that out loud?

From Variety:

Survey says: "Family Feud" is heading to primetime.

NBC and "American Idol" producer FremantleMedia North America are prepping a celebrity edition of the classic quizzer and are fast-tracking it for broadcast as soon as this summer. While the "Feud" format is more than 30 years old, the series has never aired as a regular primetime network show.
Peacock and Fremantle are keeping a tight lid on details surrounding the primetime "Feud," with casting just getting under way.

While it's possible the show could cast celeb families such as the Baldwin brothers or the Lohan clan, producers might also take a page from "Feud" history and use the casts of TV shows and movies (think the "Lost" castaways vs. the "Heroes" gang). During its original run, "Feud" often featured theme weeks in which stars of, say, "Baywatch" or "American Gladiators" competed against each other.
Sale of "Feud" reps the latest resurrection of a quizzer format by Fremantle, which boasts a huge library of classic game shows.

I'm not sure how I feel about the celebrity BS. But I still like it more than American Gladiators.

Raconteurs

Salute Your Solution

I love what Shots Ring Out has to say about the new Raconteurs video, and I love the Raconteurs new video!

Remember Oregon Trail? Those where the good ol' days.
p.s. if you don't remember Oregon Trail, go away.
if you do, then go to the Raconteurs site and love it.

p.s.s. Autumn De Wilde is amazing. she needs to direct videos more. (she did all these too)

i love the part in this article where this poor rabbit's owner says that her pet isn't overweight.
um, ok.

seth rogen

this is a story that you'll see only on Dailies.

guess who researched this story?

family feud

this is one of my favorite game shows of all time. the last 10 minutes AKA "Fast money" is a major guilty pleasure of mine.

behold, a classic clip from one of the dumbest families to ever grace the FF stage.

comedy by the numbers

i missed this last night. luckily AST Records is making a CD of it.

Yo!

dude. really? it's been 20 years since Yo! MTV Raps started?

From MTV's Sucker Free Blog:

That’s right, you read correctly. Yo! MTV Raps is coming back on the air and online for the entire month of April. Why? To celebrate Yo!’s 20th anniversary, of course. You’ll be able to check out rare pics of your favorite hip-hop artists, vintage playlists of classic videos, exclusive interviews with Fab 5 Freddy, Ed Lover and Doctor Dre, and more classic clips than Slick Rick’s got gold chains.

Get ready for Yo! MTV Raps month, starting in April.

(and by "get ready" they mean "set your tivo")

the wackness

other's cringe at this movie title but i embrace it.

The Wackness is a film that premiered at this years' Sundance Film Festival and i'm very excited about it.
Plot Summary: "The Wackness" centers upon a troubled high school student named Luke Shapiro (Josh Peck)—a teenage pot dealer who forms a friendship with Dr. Jeffrey Squires (Ben Kingsley), a psychiatrist and kindred lost soul. When the doctor proposes Luke trade him weed for therapy sessions, the two begin to explore both New York City and their own depression."The Wackness" takes place in New York City in 1994: a city pulsing with hip hop, a city whose new mayor, Rudy Giuliani, utilizes controversial methods to address the twin blights of homelessness and crime.
Set against the backdrop of the greatest year in hip hop history, "The Wackness" takes place in a very different time: a time of pagers, not cell phones, a time in which Tupac and Biggie were alive, a time in which Kurt Cobain had just died. It uses this world to tell a very different story: one with humor, pathos, sex, drugs, and beats.

in theaters July 3rd

love these posters

i may or may not have clicked on one of the adds on perez hilton's site and stumbled across The Poster List.

while i'm embarassed, i'm not mad about it.
it led me to this kind of cool poster site.

<-----look how cute that bird is!

pretty good selection and the prints come in smallish sizes, which is nice.

enough already Gervais!

more casting news that i want to hug:

Jason Bateman has now joined the cast of Ricky Gervais' This Side of the Truth.

so, one more time, it's John Hodgman (PC guy), Tina Fey, Christopher Guest, Jeffrey Tambor, Louis CK, Rob Lowe, Jonah Hill, Jennifer Garner, Ricky Gervais and now Jason Bateman.

any more people I love being added to this film might give me a heart attack.

Spoon

i love them and stuff, but Jesus H. why did they have to title the album like that?

i still can't bring myself to say " Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga" without stopping in the middle and thinking that i have morphed into a cartoon baby.

Via the fun friends at Shots Ring Out let's watch Spoon's new video You Got YR. Cherry Bomb because it's really really cool.
Sidebar:
Dear Shots Ring Out,
I am very embarassed that you read my blog. I swear to the Good Lord that I was pier pressured into starting this shiz by my manish and talented BFF Bill, who relocated to London for work. Bill likes me to blog so we don't have to talk as much.
I hope you don't think I am a brainless douchetote, because I think you are awesome.
Sincerely,

Odenkirk and Cross Reteam for HBO

(FROM HOLLYWOOD REPORTER) – Bob Odenkirk and David Cross are reteaming for a new HBO comedy pilot, David's Situation. Odenkirk and Cross co-wrote the project, which stars Cross as himself, living in a suburban, gated community with a right-wing conservative and a liberal hippie for roommates. Odenkirk will direct the pilot, which is set to shoot in May. The two previously worked together on the sketch comedy series Mr. Show, which ran for four seasons on HBO in the 1990s.

in the 1990s? that's all they are saying? sometime in the 90s. no big deal.
how about showing some respect and giving the exact dates Hollywood Reporter reported. Geez.
p.s. way to go hollywood reporter, remember when i reported this last week?
here: it aired from November 3, 1995 to December 28, 1998.

John Hodgman (the PC guy), Tina Fey, Christopher Guest and Jeffrey Tambor have joined the cast of Ricky Gervais' new comedy at Warner Bros. Pictures according to the comedian's blog. The film is set in a contemporary world where no one has ever lied. Gervais will play a performer who tells the first lie and harnesses its power for personal gain.Jennifer Garner, Rob Lowe, Jonah Hill, Louis C.K. and Gervais already star. Gervais and Matt Robinson wrote the script.

married to the sea

if you go to the Married to the Sea site you can see hilarious cartoons like this:

the 64 greatest things about L.A.

one of my "must-reads" of all time is Los Angeles Magazine.
right now they are holding a little competition to discover what the best thing in all of L.A. is.
The 64 Greatest Things About L.A. is kind of awesome and kind of the hardest thing ever at the same time.
They are already in the 2nd round of voting right now, and while partaking this morning i was asked to choose between things like:

Amoeba vs. In-n-Out (ACK!)

Central Library vs. Langers (while this seems easy at first glance, it's not because that library is beautiful! but, is it as beautiful to the eyes as a Langer's pastrami is pleasing to my stomach?!)

MOCA vs. the Arclight (to me, the Arclight always wins-but the MOCA is a delight!)

Spaceland vs. Trader Joe's (ouch. these decisions hurt my brain.)

Here's what they say:
We told you this wasn't easy! Trying to win the office basketball pool is hard enough; settling on the greatest thing in Los Angeles is something else entirely. We know. When you were last here, there were 64 contenders for the title of greatest thing; now, thanks to all those votes you cast last month, we have narrowed the list to 32 (and thanks, ahem, for all those comments—keep 'em coming!). The responsibility for determining the favorite sight, ritual, delicacy, or landmark in town still rests with you. Here, we simply make the case for each of the remaining 32 contenders. In the ensuing months, the votes you cast here will whittle the field to 16, 8, 4, and, finally, a single winner. It's just like the college tournament, only without the secret product endorsements. Or the body paint. When the champion is crowned in August, victory may well be yours.

Go to L.A. Magazine's site to vote.

Baby Mama

I saw it last night.
I was really nervous.
Guess what? No reason to be.
I laughed my ass off. It's great.
It's no secret that I have a major *NSGC on both Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, and if you don't have a special place in your heart for these fantastic ladies you might have a problem with this movie. (and with me)
With all due respect to Tina, Amy kind of steals the whole thing. Every fucking thing out of her mouth is gold...and watching the 2 of them doing karaoke together was extra fun because you can easily tell that their chemistry is not forced and that they are like total BFF in real life.

nice supporting cast too....love me some greg kinnear. romany malco is funny as the dude who teaches tina the term "baby mama". dax shepard (who was sitting behind us with his GF Kristen Bell and is super hot and MAB calls him the blonde Zach Braff and she is totally right!) was hilarious as the *DPWT. And there was a very funny small role from a HUGE famous dude that i don't think they are publicizing. (one of your favorite dudes cary)

http://www.apple.com/trailers/universal/babymama/

Go see it April 25th.

*NSGC = non-sexual girl crush
*DPWT = dirty po' white trash

i LOVE this news:

Michael Cera is in final negotiations for the starring role in Universal's adventure romance Scott Pilgrim's Little Life. Edgar Wright (Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead) is directing the movie, which is about a young slacker (Cera) who meets the woman of his dreams but has to defeat her seven evil ex-boyfriends in order to win her heart.

The story is based on the Oni Press graphic novel Scott Pilgrim Volume 1: Scott Pilgrim's Precious Little Life, written by Bryan Lee O'Malley. Wright adapted the screenplay with writer-actor Michael Bacall. Production is scheduled to start some time this fall. Cera is currently shooting the Harold Ramis-directed Year One, which also stars Jack Black and is being produced by Judd Apatow. He will then start work on Dimension Films' adaptation of C.D. Payne's 1993 novel Youth in Revolt, which is being helmed by TV director Miguel Arteta.

cartoons

The Perry Bible Fellowship (or PBF) is a newspaper comic strip and webcomic by Nicholas Gurewitch.
As you see above, these cartoons are very funny.
I was cleaning out my Gmail inbox and ran across the first one Bill sent me in January '06, thus prompting me to revisit the site.

You should check them out.

They are weird, sometimes offensive and always entertaining.

the
Paley Festival last night was the greatest thing ever.
to quote Judd: It was like a reverse roast.

on the panel (left to right):
Seth Rogen (his laugh is still my favorite noise in the universe)
Jason Segal (hot)
Paul Feig (genius)
Busy Phillips (cute and very pregnant)
Garry Shandling (dude, it's Larry Sanders.)
Judd
Tom Arnold (high on something and creating many awkward moments)
Jonah Hill (lost his voice after the SNL afterparty)
Paul fucking Rudd (super hot even with mountain man beard)
Andy Dick (annoying)

It was AMAZING.

he's funny.

this is an excerpt from his web-site:

Great Todd Barry Quotes

Todd says a lot of amazing and fascinating things. A LOT. This page will feature some of the most amazing and fascinating things he's ever said. Sure, you can use these quotes to annihilate people at cocktail parties, but why not do something more positive? Use them as part of your email signature! Here come the quotes. And don't worry, more will be added!

the raconteurs

have a new album out on the 25th.
um, ok.
that's a nice surprise.

Wrote the band in a statement, "The Raconteurs are forgoing the usual months of lead time for press and radio set up, as well as forgoing the all important 'first week sales.' We wanted to explore the idea of releasing an album everywhere at once and then marketing and promoting it thereafter. The Raconteurs would rather this release not be defined by it’s first weeks sales, pre-release promotion, or by someone defining it for you before you get to hear it."

happy birthday Quincy Jones.

(that's the same picture they used on that episode of Arrested Development.)

he is kind of a big deal.

Quincy Jones -- In a musical career that has spanned six decades, Quincy Jones has distinguished himself as a bandleader, a solo artist, a sideman, a songwriter, a producer, an arranger, a film composer, and a record label executive. He is the artist with the single greatest number of Grammy nominations, with a total of 79 nominations and 27 awards, and has also received an Emmy Award, seven Oscar nominations, and the 1995 Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award.

Wain Wain don't go away!

a lil' while ago i was all blah blah blah check out My Damn Channel. it's like Super Deluxe and stuff.....blahh.

But i recently discovered David Wain's series "Wainy Days" and it is a comedic gem and an all around good time.

Check out the first episode from 2007 with Elizabeth Banks and A.D. Miles:

Be a master in the art of time-suckage and watch all of them why dontchu.

Mean Magazine

This post is just an homage to Mean Magazine.

Really really do yourself a favor and subscribe to this. I always enjoy it, but the newest issue is too good to not share with the world (world or the 3 people that read this) .

Seriously, my co-workers have had me shove the Kate Beckinsale photo spread in their faces all week.

The photos are so ridiculously good-looking (like Derek Zoolander).

Maybe one of the best photo spreads ever.

Much to my surprise and delight I learn it was styled by Rachel Zoe. Everyone has shat on her for the last five or so years for turning her clients into clones of herself. People like Nicole Ritchie (before she got all cute and motherly), cracked-out Lohan, and Mischa Farton all followed her lead in a zombie-like stupor. They lost retarded amounts of weight, used strawberry flavored coke (allegedly!), draped themselves in vintage, and wore sunglasses bigger than their faces......all under the instruction of Zoe. Anyway....seeing a photo shoot like this reminds why she gets paid the big bucks. Although, the pictures are a total carbon copy of Anna Karina in Serge Gainsbourgs' Rollergirl you have to give her credit for coming up with the idea and executing it perfectly and with a modern twist. Is it totally shitty to use the term "modern twist"?

Kate isn't the only reason to buy the magazine either. There are interviews with the underrated Sam Rockwell (her current co-star), the way-cute Lizzy Caplan, and rad Demetri Martin.

Here's a video of the cover shoot.

you're welcome.

more reasons to love Judd Apatow

MovieWeb has a great interview with Judd wherein he talks about Drillbit Taylor, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Pineapple Express, and Zohan.

Also~the idea & outline for Drillbit Taylor came from the mind of JOHN HUGHES. whoa dude!
i totally didn't know that. and Judd talking about loving Sixteen Candles was just like, one of the greatest things ever.

i'm really excited that i will be hanging out with Señor Apatow on Monday night for the Paley Center event. ok, not really hanging out. more like listening from an audience.

The Comedy World of Judd Apatow & Friends

Judd Apatow
Tom Arnold (?)
Andy Dick (yuck)
Paul Feig (rad)
Jonah Hill (awesome. can't wait for SNL tomorrow)
Busy Phillips (Kim Kelly!)
Jason Segal (love him)

also!~ there's a new weed-free Pineapple Express trailer. nothing really new. i like the one with the weed better.
damnit i can't wait to see that movie again.

parker posey = totally cute

this a/v club interview makes me more in non-sexual love with parker.
sadly i hear that her new tv show is shit. too bad.

quotes like this (re: how fashion is too important to reporters now):

Why do they ask that? Everyone's asking that. You go to these things and people always want to know what you're wearing, instead of what you're reading, or what you're thinking. [Laughs.] I find it really weird. I was doing the red carpet thing for the Independent Spirit Awards, and all the paparazzi were going, "This is so much more chilled-out than the Oscars!" But I've never been to the Oscars, so I have nothing to compare it to. It didn't seem chilled-out to me! They went, "What are you wearing?" And I was like, "My shoes are made of bark, my dress is made of grass, and my coat is made of air." They said, "Where'd you get it?" and I was like, "It's from heaven." And it was total—crickets. Crickets! No response, no irony. It's really weird to be taken seriously for what you're wearing. It makes me want to wear a uniform.

ASSSSCAT on DVD

good news.

ASSSSCAT is coming to DVD on March 25th.

On the heels of their popular Comedy Central show, the Upright Citizens Brigade (Matt Besser, Amy Poehler, Ian Roberts, Matt Walsh) bring you ASSSSCAT, an unparalleled improv comedy juggernaut. Beginning with a suggestion from the audience, a guest monologist tells a story that kicks off a series of high-octane improvised sketches. From medical marijuana to embarrassing sexual encounters, no topic is off limits to the renegade performers who have helped make ASSSSCAT one of the longest running improv shows in the history of the world.

This DVD features the members of UCB, plus Chad Carter, Sean Conroy, Andrew Daly, Horatio Sanz, as well as guest monologists Will Arnett, Ed Helms, Jen Kirkman, Thomas Lennon, Paul F. Tompkins and Kate Walsh.

Recorded March 2007 at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in Hollywood, CA.

be warned:
my annoying laughter might make a background cameo.

comedy central

although i am still peeved at them for taking away my beloved Dog Bites Man (perhaps one of the best shows everrrrr), comedy central made me smile when i read this:

Comedy Central orders new projects

Comedy Central is moving into the fantasy arena, greenlighting a scripted live-action series dubbed Krod Mandoon and the Flaming Sword of Fire.In addition, the cable network has ordered pilots or presentations of projects starring a range of talent, including an animated comedy with Snoop Dogg, a sketch show starring Andy Richter and a fake-magazine show featuring David Alan Grier.

i have had massive crushes on Andy and DAG forever. no crush on Snoop, but seeing him animated could by fun.

OH Shit!
also this:

Important news about "Important Things" comes today from COMEDY CENTRAL which has given a series pick-up to comedian Demetri Martin's new series, Important Things with Demetri Martin, it was announced by Lauren Corrao, executive vice president, original programming and development, COMEDY CENTRAL.
The new series is tentatively scheduled to premiere during the second half of 2008. Important Things with Demetri Martin is a stream-of-consciousness sketch and variety show from comedian Demetri Martin (The Daily Show With Jon Stewart). In each episode, Martin analyzes a single topic through the prism of his unique point of view. Topics covered might include everything from "What Happens After We Die" to "Apples.""Demetri Martin is truly an original. He's the only guy that can take you on a hilarious journey on the importance of apples for thirty minutes and make you laugh and make you think," said Corrao. "He's a regular on 'The Daily Show With Jon Stewart', we've toured with him, done a CD together and a one-hour special. Obviously, we're huge fans of Demetri and Busboy and are extremely excited about taking the next step with them.""This announcement seems very important," said Martin. "I'm very excited to be at COMEDY CENTRAL and looking forward to making one of the top shows of all time -- ever. Also, I need to clean my apartment and thank Jon Stewart."

Bob and David

I've been hearing about this new thingy B & D are doing for HBO for a long time now.

They've both mentioned it at UCB and I'm all "Stop teasing me, you bastards!"

Now. Finally. Some news.

And it sounds fucking fantastic.

I'm no one so I had to get the info from MTV.

While it might have been a TV program, the influence of “Mr. Show” on the ensuing decade of both movies and television has been a substantial one. Now, David Cross and Bob Odenkirk are putting together a project that will once again team the warped comic masterminds.

“Bob and I are going to shoot something for HBO, a pilot, which was something we wrote,” Cross told us recently in Shreveport, Louisiana during a break from shooting the Jack Black-Michael Cera flick “Year One.” “It’s based on Bob’s idea, but we both co-wrote it and I’ll act in it.”

Although the duo’s return to Home Box Office will be like “Mr. Show” in some ways, Cross insisted that it will also play with the clichés of situation comedies. “It’s a sitcom,” the “Arrested Development” funnyman explained. “It will follow a traditional sitcom feeling, but will also feel like a big sketch, even though the characters will remain the same each week.”

“Hopefully, we’ll shoot it this April,” he continued. “The working title is ‘David’s Situation,’ but that could change.”

Also, since Bob and David will once again be existing in the realm of pay-TV, they hope to employ a “Grindhouse”-like gimmick that will exploit our collective hatred of ad breaks. “Because it’s HBO, we are going to write and shoot our own commercials that will probably have nothing to do with the show, and have two commercial breaks and have an epilogue and all that stuff,” Cross grinned, adding: “And if it comes naturally to swear, or have something a little more than you wouldn’t have on network TV, we’ll definitely do that.”

As for Odenkirk’s off-the-wall plot idea, Cross explained it thusly: “I’m playing me. I’ve left Hollywood, I’ve had it with Hollywood. I now write for in-flight magazines, and I’ve moved to a gated community in an unknown suburb; you don’t know where it is or what part of the country. I have two roommates - one is extreme right wing, a cranky conservative pro-America guy. The other is this left wing, hippie, liberal-activist guy. And I’m right in the middle.”

“They are both ridiculous, and crazy stuff happens, but in the reality of this world it’s not that crazy,” added Cross, saying that he and Odenkirk expect their “David’s Situation” pilot to get picked up and hopefully last a few seasons. “We would only do ten or twelve episodes for a season… personally, I would be happy to do six,” he grinned. “I don’t wanna spend that much time in L.A.”

Charlie Brooker's Screenwipe

Charlie Brooker's Screenwipe is a BBC show.
it is hilarious.
i am extremely tired right now so just read about it here.

and watch this sample:

*thanks to david and chris for bringing this to my eyes.

Father's Office

in "not sure how the hell i missed this news":

the HIGHLY anticipated 2nd location of Father's Office has opened in the Helm's Bakery complex in Culver City.

remember from 1999-2004 when i worked a stone's throw away from that area? and there was shite to eat for lunch?
now Culver City is (to borrow a phrase from a co-worker who got it from Men in Black II) "the new hotness".
parking is sure to be a horrific nightmare now.

Los Angeles, CA (March 12) – ReelzChannel®, the only cable/satellite television network dedicated to “Everything About Movies, 24/7™,” has acquired the critically-acclaimed animated comedy series “The Critic,” starring the voice of actor/comedian Jon Lovitz.

The half-hour series about a down-on-his-luck movie critic (Lovitz) who gets no respect at home or at his work will join the ReelzChannel programming lineup with a special eight-hour marathon preview Sunday, March 16 beginning at 2:00 PM ET/11:00 AM PT. The series premieres in its regular weekly time period Monday, March 17 at 6:30 PM ET/3:30 PM PT (with encore presentations at 8:30 PM ET/5:30 PM PT and 11:30 PM ET/8:30 PM PT).

The acquisition comes as ReelzChannel, available nationally via satellite carriage on DirecTV and DISH Network and on cable systems in major U.S. markets, continues its rapid cable television roll-out in markets across the country, including its launch this week throughout metropolitan New York City on Time Warner Cable.

“The Critic” is the brainchild of Al Jean and Mike Reiss, producers of “The Simpsons.” The series follows Jay Sherman (voiced by Lovitz) as he balances his personal life with his work life on the movie review show, “Coming Attractions.” Jay seems to always be caught in a moral dilemma – he feels he’s above the movies he reviews, but he loves movies more than anything on earth! Each episode features dead-on parodies of iconic movies -- from The Godfather to Silence of the Lambs. It’s animation at its’ finest and funniest.

“The Critic” joins ReelzChannel's roster of movie-focused, mostly original programming which includes “Dailies,” hosted by Mike Richards; “Secret’s Out,” hosted by renowned movie expert Leonard Maltin; “The Big Tease”; the first-ever, video blogger-generated television series, “Movie Mob”; and “Movie Up.” The network program lineup also includes the popular “At the Movies with Ebert & Roeper” and “The Directors.”

In addition to the network television channel, ReelzChannel’s multi-platform services include its popular website, www.ReelzChannel.com, where visitors can stay connected to the most current movie news, participate in online contests and surveys, voice their opinions and get information on all the current movie releases in all windows of distribution. Detailed information on ReelzChannel and its programming can be found at

Lost in Translation

MTV reported the wrong movie title because they couldn't understand Michel Gondry.
I want to laugh but his accent is thick like a river of molasses.

“It’s funny because I tell you the title, but then because of my accent it’s all over the Net with the wrong title!” the occasionally English-challenged director laughed. “It’s called ‘The Return of the Ice Kids.’ But if you say ‘Ice Kings,’ that’s cool too, I guess.”

Tropic Thunder

here's a new picture from the movie with massive potential...
(Ben Stiller, here's your chance to redeem yourself)
from left to right:
Jay Baruchel (adorable), Brandon T. Jackson (not familiar...yet), Ben Stiller (director & producer), Robert Downey Jr. (the african american version), Jack Black ( AKA J.B., Jables, or half of the greatest band on Earth Tenacious D), Steve Coogan (who is fantastic in 24 Hour Party People, but I heard he's the one responsible for getting Owen Wilson hooked on the big H)

Common Craft

Don't get scared you guys.
Just because I used the word "craft" doesn't mean we are having a lesson in knitting or scrapbooking.

Common Craft is a site made by some peeps in Seattle. They are consultants and inventors of cool, informative videos.

What do these videos inform you of?
Random everyday that may be obvious to some people, but not to others.
For example: wikis
Just today I learned how wikis work and I am a smarter lady because of the Common Craft video.

Best part is that the videos explain things with fun cut-outs and narration.

apatow and sandler again

even though You Don't Mess With the Zohan isn't out until June 6th, His Royal Highness of Comedy (i just made that gay name up) Judd Apatow has already commited to another project with His Royal Highness of Trying Too Hard (he deserves that one) Adam Sandler.

That could be a ballsy move considering how unfunny the Zohan trailer looks. Oh Well. I love Judd unconditionally...

here's the scoop from Cinematical:

This time, Apatow has written a currently untitled comedy that will star Sandler, Seth Rogen, and Leslie Mann, and will be a co-project between Universal and Sony. While production is set to begin later this year, Judd is keeping the plot under wraps.

in other news: i would be ok if Seth Rogen and Leslie Mann appeared in every movie.

ricky gervais is making a movie

good news:
one of the most brilliant genius comedy minds alive is working on a movie.

more good news:
he's blogging about it. with video. so he's vlogging.

read/watch it!

p.s. i'm totally jealous of his assistant. i feel like he might be a rad boss, nerf gun abuse and all.

oops.

this video was brought to my attention by my bosses while in our script meeting this morning and i thank them...

Ballroom Blitz

if you are like me (by that i mean kind of lame) the first time you heard the amazzzzing song Ballroom Blitz was when Cassandra and her band Crucial Taunt played it at the end of 1992s Wayne's World.

but Ballroom Blitz was released 19 years prior by the British band Sweet, it went to #1 in Australia and only to #2 in the UK. It took a bit for them to release it in the U.S and A and when it was out in 1975 it only reached #5. i totally don't get it.

don't be scared of glam rock. it's your friend.
and don't be fooled by the other bands, this song has been covered 3 thousand times. none are as good as the original.

i really think that something is wrong with your ears if Ballroom Blitz doesn't induce at least one of the following symptoms:

shoulders moving up and down
crazy dancing (like molly ringwald in The Breakfast Club)
toe tapping
strong desire to roller skate
knee slapping
waving around imaginary drumsticks
plain old-fashioned clapping
singing loudly

here's the live version, long pretty boy hair and all:

here's the fucking creepy video:

my boyfriend dating my girlfriend?

spotted canoodling (this word is lame and awesome all at once):

Keanu Reeves, who I believe to be one of the hottest men alive, getting cozy (another term the gossip mags love) with my non-sexual girl-crush Parker Posey.

Wait what?
On Feb. 25, an eyewitness spotted Matrix hunk Keanu Reeves cozying up to the queen of indie films, Parker Posey, at swanky L.A. hotel the Chateau Marmont.

angel city drive in

YES PLEASE!

amy poehler is fierce

if you aren't familiar with Christian Siriano, the winner of Project Runway, this video won't make much sense to you.
Let's just say that Amy Poehler did one of the best impressions in (dare I say?) SNL history!
Christian is a caricature of a stereotype of what a gay fashion designer is while dancing on top of a rainbow while hurling insults at everyone alive, and I love him.
His catchphrases are magical.
Examples:
when seeing something that is pleasing to the eye it's: "fierce"

when seeing something he thinks is ugly it's: "a hot mess"
if we are lucky we get a magical phrase like my favorite, "I'm going to die of barfness"

zach + tim & eric = great job!

stuff to read

~ the fantasmic Chuck Klosterman wrote a piece on road movies for the film issue of Believer magazine. just the fact that right of the bat he mentions the song "Life is a Highway" makes me love him even more. that song rocked my world in 1992.

~ Jim Carrey is going to be in the next movie Jason Reitman directs. i love the idea of these 2 together.

~ trailer news: The Incredible Hulk will premiere at Showest next week. hopefully on the www soon after?

~ David Gordon Green is doing a Suspiria remake. hmm... i like DGG and stuff....but i'm not sure screwing with Dario Argento is a great idea.

~ Punchline has an interview with comedy genius (yeah i said it) Greg Proops.

Confessions of a Shopaholic has some casting news I like

Let's go ahead and file this under no one on EARTH cares about this but me.

Confessions of a Shopaholic is the first in a series of 5 books about a woman with a shopping addiction, which no one could ever figure out from that bullet-proof title.

I am bringing this up because a movie version is currently being shot. Normally this would be shit news, but Isla Fisher is the star. If you don't love her something is the matter with you.

I just got excited today because i just read this article that says John Goodman and Joan Cusack just got cast as her parents. Again, no one cares, but to me this is cause for celebration. It's called "good casting" people. I read the damn book so I know.

Randomness

~ Comedy Death Ray was magical last night. My love for Aziz Ansari has grown, and PFT and Andy Daly were amazing as usual. Also, Jeff Garlin, Howard Kremer, Brody Stevens and Natasha Leggero made me laugh a lot too. Damnit I love CDR.

~ Entertainment Weekly has the 1st picture from Tropic Thunder. This is going to be a good one, kids. Ben Stiller directing for the first time since Zoolander....Jack Black, Robert Downey Jr., Bill Hader, Jay Bucharel, and danny McBride. (you'll know Danny after you see him in Pineapple Express, he's fucking fantastic. he was in Hot Rod too).

~ Boner from Growing Pains is in trouble with the law.
Upon noticing his real last name, since all these years he was just "Boner" to me, I researched and found that not only is his dad Walter Koenig from Stark Trek....his sis is Danielle Koenig who I've seen perform at UCB....but more importantly she is married to the Never Not Funny Jimmy Pardo. ¡Muy interesante!

~ A/V Club has an interview with the underrated Sam Rockwell.
