WILL THERE BE A BOB AND DAVID SHOW EVER AGAIN?
Well, there might be. The project that David and I did for HBO a few weeks ago; "David's Situation" was in most respects a smashing success. Loads of fun, great energy, hilarious performances, solid laughter, everything "worked" from the writing to the production to the performance... The actual night of the taping kicked ass. We had a fantastic crowd, and so many of our friends showed up to support. The show had great high points, David's stand-up monologues, Zach Galafianakis' as "Lame" and his music video, Scott and BJ doing "Predator A.M.", and Matt Besser, Eric Hoffman and Mo Collins as our "sitcom" cast...
It's hard to do justice to how well it all went. Few pilots feel as in control or deliver as many laughs.
HOWEVER...we (David and I) upon making the final edit and reviewing it...lost interest in the overall concept. The show was a strange hybrid with a "sit-com" base. We used the actual set from "Everybody Loves Raymond". The sitcom framework really felt like a drag on our energy and sensibility. This was fairly obvious to us and not as disappointing as it might sound because the whole experience energized us to create something new and more better.
HBO execs felt the energy in the room, too. So we think they are genuinely interested in what's next.
After the experience of "David's Situation" it would be crazy for us not to create something.
So we are working on it. Not sure where it will go, or how we will put it together. But it all comes from having done "David's Situation", and I do hope our fans will get a chance to see it one day. You fantastic, amazing, wondrificul comedy nerdles.
