Thom Yorke, Philip Glass and Damien Rice team up for Tibet Documentary

After lending his talents (probably in exchange for a decent amount of cash) to the "New Moon" soundtrack, Thom Yorke is ready to earn back some cred by teaming up with Irish singer/songwriter Damien Rice and modern composer Philip Glass to write the music for the forthcoming documentary "When The Dragon Swallowed The Sun."

The Dirk Simon directed film will “show, for the first time, an inside perspective on the Tibetan movement to free Tibet from Chinese occupation, its internal conflicts and contradictions.” Among the participants are Richard Gere, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, the Dalai Lama and other prominent artists and figures in the Tibetan freedom movement.

There is a trailer already up at the film's website and the picture has already started doing festival and competition rounds. It recently picked up Best Soundtrack from the Maverick Movie Awards, and is set to play the Santa Barbara Film Festival in February. No word yet on an official release date (it will need to find a distributor first) or if we'll see an official soundtrack release, but given the heavyweights involved, it's only a matter of time.
