sexy!

no shit. these are adult footie pajamas. and they are mine.

i am planning on spending an absurd amount of time in these over the next 4 days.

laugh it up, but they're really warm and soft.
(that's what she said)

from me to me

Duplicity

speaking of Clive & Julia.

there is not one thing i don't like about this trailer. yes, it's a bit rom-com wacky but remember how i am a dork. and a girl.

Clive.
Tony Gilroy.
Tom Wilkinson.
Paul Giamatti
Even Julia Roberts.

out March 20th....

"answer the question!"

why is the movie Closer so underrated?

these are 2 of the best (and most brutal) breakup scenes in movie history.

natalie stops being polite and starts getting real at 2:45 and i love it.

and this is perfect clive owen.

happy thanksgiving back.

absolutely no joke. without fail. everytime someone says "happy thanksgiving" i think of this scene.

Tom Hanks turns on the charm in You've Got Mail.

Yes. You've Got Freakin' Mail.
I make no apologies for my love of this movie.
None at all.
I am powerless against some good ol' fashioned sexual tension.

Did you catch who the cashier is? It's Dr. Callie Torres from Grey's Anatomy.

Fun fact: I am a gigantic nerd.

que cera cera

finally finally Paper Hearts news!

and remember when michael cera was sitting in front of me at UCB last night?
and so was this guy.

and remember when i am going to see Charlyne Yi and Fred Armisen on December 18th and i'm sure he'll be there again?

Milk

i saw Milk tonight.

i knew Sean Penn was going to be good.

i was not expecting to be blown away though, and i was.

i want gus van sant to get nominated, and i want everyone to see this movie.

i'm sad that even 30 years after he fought so hard, this shit is still going on. back then it was prop 6, now it's prop 8.

Milk is gonna be on my best of the year list.

thanks EW!

(omg omg omg. # 1 is Out of Sight and # 2 is His Girl Friday! LOVE LOVE LOVE)

tv entertains me (understatement of the century)

of course i watched and loved last nights' "it's always sunny in philadelphia" and "the office" episodes.

here are my favorite quotes:

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia-The Nightman Cometh
Charlie:
"I'm going to slap your face right off of your face!"

The Office-Frame Toby
Michael Scott:
"Welcome back jerky jerkface."

Sidebar about The Office: "Frame Toby" was written by Mindy Kaling and directed by Jason Reitman.
Nice.

(not nice....both of them are younger than i am)

Adventureland trailer

i am a huge fan of most of the people involved here.

magazine love

For some reason I get Men's Vogue. I don't know why. I don't pay for it.
It just comes in the mail. I assume it's because I get Vogue and they want to give me a special treat since I've been subscribing since the 90s.

So this morning I get to work and open the December/January issue...mildy excited because at least I'll get some hot dude pictures and some hot dude cologne samples.

And then I get to page 124.

Got me like a dog as I pause and pant

It's Q-Tip and Norah Jones in a photo spread by one of my favorite photographers Max Vadukul.

My God does he know how to wear a suit.

As soon as I can I am going to scan the pictures since they aren't online yet.

Is it wrong that I want to frame these?

other people are puppy crazy too

Arrested Dev movie closer?

From The Hollywood Reporter:

'Arrested Development' film gets closer
Mitch Hurwitz, Ron Howard ink deals for feature treatment

The "Arrested Development" feature has moved closer to reality, with Mitch Hurwitz and Ron Howard reportedly closing deals for the long-gestating project from Imagine and Fox Searchlight.
The possible migration of the critically acclaimed but short-lived Fox series to the big screen has been a hot topic among fans for the past year.

Speculation has been fueled by cast members of the show, including Jason Bateman, Will Arnett and Jeffrey Tambor, who have been frequently quoted in interviews that a feature adaptation is in the works.

Hurwitz, who created and exec produced the Emmy-winning series, is on board to write the film as well as direct with help from Howard.

The series, from Imagine TV and 20th TV, was a pet project of Howard, who had a lot to do with its distinct visual style. In the final episode, Howard, playing himself, heard the Bluth TV family's pitch of their story and liked it for a movie.

Sidebar:

Last night I was at Target and all 3 seasons were on sale for $14.99. (That's pretty much like selling a Lexus for 500 bucks.)
Hooray! I am once again the proud owner of season 2 and no one is ever going to borrow it.

I want the fuckin Fortune like the Wheel

This could be a really bad movie, but at least the soundtrack will be good.

According to a post on the Biggie's Myspace, the soundtrack to "Notorious," the biopic of slain Brooklyn rapper the Notorious B.I.G. will hit on January 6, 2009 via P. Diddy's BadBoy records.

The disc will evidently feature many Biggie classics plus one of his demos and new tracks by Jay-Z, Jadakiss, and more.

Directed by George Tillman Jr., the film stars rapper Jamal Woodward as Bigs, Derek Luke as Puff Daddy, Angela Bassett as Mrs. Voletta Wallace (Biggie's Mom) and Anthony Mackie as Tupac Shakur among others.

"Notorious" comes out via Fox Searchlight on January 16 and the DVD is already being targeted for a May 5, release date. You can see the latest trailer for the film here.

Already a DVD release date? Yikes. Bad sign.

um hi best actor nomination

she & him ~ why do you let me stay here

tapes & tapes ~ hang them all

the ting tings ~ great dj

tv on the radio ~ dancing choose/golden age

m.i.a. ~ paper planes

mgmt ~ time to pretend/electric feel

portishead ~ machine gun/the trip

matt & kim ~ daylight

the kooks ~ always where i need

iron & wine ~ boy with a coin

grand ole party ~ look out young son

flight of the conchords ~ ladies of the world

fleet foxes ~ white winter hymnal/he doesn't know why

feist ~ i feel it all

css ~ move

bon iver ~ the wolves (act I and II)

beck ~ orphans

Jeepers. That's way more than 10. I'm gonna have to narrow my shit down.
sidebar: this is the first time i'm seeing the Radiohead "All I Need" video. what an idiot. where have i been?
pitchfork wrote about it a million years ago (in april).
my God it's sad.
i shall do my best to continue thinking "All I Need" is a sexy love song.

Alvy Singer is a smart one

Alvy Singer: I feel that life is divided into the horrible and the miserable. That's the two categories. The horrible are like, I don't know, terminal cases, you know, and blind people, crippled. I don't know how they get through life. It's amazing to me. And the miserable is everyone else. So you should be thankful that you're miserable, because that's very lucky, to be miserable.

favorite picture ever (right now)

I saw this in Vanity Fair last week (the naked Kate Winslet issue) and it stayed sitting open on my desk so i can glance at it whenever i feel like it.

in case you can't tell, that's a table read for the movie Funny People. I slightly worship all of those people for different reasons.

I was lucky enough to see 5 of them doing stand-up at UCB, but adding Schwartman, Leslie Mann, the effing RZA and Eric Bana to the mix is kind of kick ass. Aubrey Plaza, the tiny one next to Judd is my new favorite chick comedian. I also love how bored Judd & Leslie's kids look.

The Playlist posted this, so go there if you want a bigger pic for the spank bank.

good gob

yum

i already really really really want to see Australia.

and then i saw this:

this picture is like, melting my eyeballs with it's hotness.

don't make me sad

evil evil ipod.
sometimes in shuffle mode you try to make me upset.
today you won't win.

check out this threesome i was handed on the way to work:

Iron & Wine - The Trapeze Swinger (the good itunes sessions version)
(no shit, this song can make me cry in like 14 seconds)

Fiona Apple - Shadowboxer
(ouch ouch ouch)

Damien Rice - Volcano
(are you joking me?)
the chorus:
What I am to you is not real
What I am to you, you do not need
What I am to you is not what you mean to me
You give me miles and miles of mountains
And I'll ask for the sea

Screw off ipod.
I am the boss of you, not the other way around.
I was about the throw the POS out the window when it saved itself and it was all "Mirror Mirror on the wall"
And i was all "fuck yes"

rachel getting married

i spent tonight at the arclight instead of at ucb. at first i was sad about it, then i saw           Rachel Getting Married.

the second it started i forgot you and me and everything that wasn't onscreen. it's been a long time since i was so pleasantly surprised by a film. i wasn't expecting much because i know a few people who weren't fond of it and i've stayed away from reviews.

anne hathaway, in the opposite of princess diaries mode is 100% deserving of the Oscar nomination she will get. i wish the same for rosemarie dewitt, who is the one that gets married. she is luminous.
who does she get married to? um freaking Tunde Adebimpe. how did i really have no idea that the lead singer of TV on the Radio was in this? i'm dumb. and again, i didn't read reviews. and i apparently wasn't reading pitchfork.

i wish this movie was real and that i knew this family and i got to attend a wedding like this. with love and music and love and love and music. i stumbled onto this blog and i agree with his review of the movie. he doesn't give too much away (like most critics do).

what am i rambling about? i've had too many diet cokes today.

anyway~go see this if you love movies.

there goes my best buy card

i have to buy all these DVDs that are out today:

Tropic Thunder ( the extras alone will be worth the price, and the fake trailers )

Heathers 20th High School Reunion Edition ( have we met? this movie rules the my universe. i already own 2 copies, one signed by Daniel Waters. )

Wall • E (my favorite love story of the year)

Wu: The Story of The Wu-Tang Clan ( it's rare that i buy a DVD without seeing it first. that's how strongly i feel about the Clan. )

nigel and the abstract

i know about Q-Tip working with super producer Nigel Godrich. i know it and i love it.

this interview with Q-Tip is from a long time ago, but i just read it again and saw this:

“He’s a big fan of rap,” Q-Tip said of the producer. “It’ll be cool working with him. We’re going to make a film out of the project too.”

I'm sorry what?
Hold the fucking phone. Did he say film?
My boner's boner just got a boner.

Spike Jonze

interview from Ain't It Cool.

it's long but worth it.
that's what she said.

dear dumplings,

i love you!
love, me

last night it got extreme pleasure from eating at the Din Tai Fung dumpling house in my lovely town of Arcadia.

fun fact:
Din Tai Fung was ranked as one of the world's top 10 restaurants in 1993 by The New York Times. It has gained renown internationally for its juicy pork dumplings.

Stella

I should probably be going to this.

that happened. that's Q-Tip. i was there. i can die now.

the amount of blissfull, euphoric joy that comes from hearing live music that you've been in love with for years and years + hearing songs from an album that i've listening to about 174 times since this post + a perfect place to stand = me after the show asking "did that really just happen?"

Revolutionary Road

I like the first, Nina Simone version of the trailer better.

Ricky!

Don't forget to tivo or watch the Ricky Gervais HBO special tomorrow night.

and this is from Pop Candy:
Out of England airs Saturday at 9 p.m. ET and includes Gervais' thoughts on fame, obesity, fund-raising, fairy tales and other topics. MSN has an exclusive clip with a funny bit about Humpty Dumpty.
In related news, look for the comedian on an upcoming episode of Sesame Street. And this week Rotten Tomatoes posted a massive, 15-part interview with Gervais that you can start watching now. Topics include Extras, Karl Pilkington and Simon Pegg.

fun fact: i could listen to Ricky talk shit about Karl Pilkington allll day and his laugh is my number 2 fave behind my fiancé Seth Rogen.

now go read Ricky's blog already.

ear candy

you know how sometimes the soundtrack is better than the movie? Rocknrolla was pretty fucking good, but i may dig the soundtrack even more. How did I not know of The Sonics before?
This album is saving me from overdosing on Q-Tip.

judd!

5 Netflix Stars

The Visitor is a completely and totally flawless film, from start to finish.

Richard Jenkins will deservedly get an Oscar nomination for this, but it's sad that the rest of the cast won't. Maybe probably hopefully the Spirit Awards will recognize them. Fingers crossed for the writer/director too. He also wrote and directed underrated gem The Station Agent. Queue it up.

As for Jenkins, dude's got crazy range...just this year from Step Brothers, to The Visitor, and then Burn After Reading. He deserves all the prizes he can get.

I want to hug this movie.

countdown to SNL

thanks

Dear UCB theatre,

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU.

My life is shit and last night I saw one of the best Comedy Death Ray shows evahhhhhhh.

Andy Ritchie, Bob Odenkirk, Zach Galifianakis, and mostly Greg Proops brought the laughs.
At one point I had to physically stop myself from laughing because I was going to barf. You know like when a dude has to stop a boner. You have to think of awful stuff for a second. (what if McCain had won? Animal abuse. Work. The movie Babel. Work. )

Anyway. Good times.

Other highlight of the week:
We saw Russell Brand again at Largo. Icing? Colin Firth, Matthew Goode, Rufus Sewell and Jason Segal did too.
Remember when Mark Darcy made eye contact with me? I could should have died.

Christmas on Mars

Finally.
The Flaming Lips movie, Christmas on Mars is here.

I heard Wayne Coyne rambling about this when I saw the Lips in concert in Seattle in like 2002.
The trailer makes me a little nervous, but a song lyric I've heard a zillion times reminds me that "all the best things make you nervous, all the best things come in disguise".
What? i don't even know what I'm talking about.

Here's the weird ass trailer.

new favorite thing

Since I can't burn candles in the office (boooooooo) I now use this:

I'm serious. It works. There's even a battery operated fake flame.

GAP ads

The Gap Holiday ads are out. This is my favorite.

Meanwhile, I just realized I've been blogging for over a year. I remember I posted about last year's Gap ads because of my fierce Krasinski boner and fave couple Arnett/Poehler.

Settle down Jay

There's a rumor goin' all around that you ain't been gettin' served....

i would hug him till his eyeballs popped out.

kind of funny...

Nov. 4, 2008--Black people aren't the only ones worried about embarrassing themselves now that Obama is president-elect. Here are a few pointers for white people.

1. Don't personally congratulate all your black friends.
Black people are not a sports team, and Obama did not win the Super Bowl.

2. Don't declare that you "never thought you'd see the day."
You never thought you'd see the day?

3. Don't start crossing the street in order to walk next to a black person.
President Obama is glad you support racial reconciliation, but he takes a hard line against jaywalking.

4. Don't name drop "Dr. King."
If you absolutely must make some comment about how this is a victory for civil rights, pick a marginally less obvious figurehead.

5. Don't use the phrase "white people" in any way that suggests it doesn't include you.
Contrary to popular belief, having voted for Obama does not make you even "semi-down."
Sorry if there was any confusion there.

source: the root

this picture is even better now

sidebar: being on franklin avenue outside of la poubelle, bird's, prizzi's and the ucb while we found out about Obama was one of the most amazing experiences i've ever had.
strangers were hugging, people were crying happy tears and it was a super fun block party. this was the only time i didn't get annoyed by non-stop car horns and woohooing.

i'm nervous about red states....

but listening to Seth Rogen's laugh calms and soothes me.

so here's this video of him and Kevin Smith talking about Zack & Miri.

Artist on Artist: Kevin Smith and Seth Rogen

you know what today is.

Russell Brand is hilarious, attractive

here's a (kind of lame) "review" of Russell Brand's Sunday night show at Largo.

I was there last night and it was highly entertaining. The only bad news came when I actually contemplated being one of the "ladies" who stands around after the show waiting to do it with him. Or getting his autograph, as Russell says it, "on your uterus, with my sperm".
Guess what, it takes a suuuper funny, charming, and extremely book and street smart dude to pull off saying shit like that and not coming off like a fucking creep. A British accent doesn't hurt either.

He's doing another show Sunday night. We are going again. Right MAB?
